HOW TO PREPARE FOR EXCAVATING ?
Safe excavating practice
To carry out any excavating, you have to;
- SURVEYING - Survey the area to dig, look up any flood and water tables on the local geographic planning portals
- SERVICES - Request any gas, electric, water services on the land
- CAT SCAN - Scan the ground with a CAT scanner (a hand held device, that you can hire)
- WHAT DIGGER? - Use an appropriate size machinery for the task, have a banksman watching the operator at all times.
- INSURANCE - Make sure the contractor has the necessary cover, just in case issues arise.
- ITS A MARITHON, NOT A SPRINT - Go SLOW - As you excavate, keep it slow, no rush. ensure the machinery is always on level ground, keep the area tidy
- WATER TABLES - if you hit water, keep the excavation pumped at all times.
Happy digging 🙂
