New Drainage Installations

GroundCo offers comprehensive drainage installation services, including foul and rainwater systems. We adhere to civil engineering drawings to ensure precise, efficient, and regulation-compliant installations, providing you with a robust and effective drainage solution.

Soakaway Systems

Managing rainwater effectively is critical to maintaining a functional and safe property. GroundCo installs both standard and cage-type soakaways, tailored to the specific volume of rainwater your property handles. Our soakaway systems are designed to manage and disperse rainwater efficiently, preventing waterlogging and potential damage.

Soak Away Crate System

What Are Soakaway Crates?

Soakaway crates are essential components for managing water buildup in gutters, driveways, and French drains. Without proper drainage, excess water can filter through communal pipes, leading to potential issues like burst pipes or flooding, both of which necessitate extensive repair work. Installing a personal soakaway system can prevent these problems by efficiently managing water runoff.

Stormwater crates, similar to soakaway crates, are highly effective for groundwater infiltration. They can fill up to 97% of their volume with water, making them an excellent solution for capturing rainwater. Additionally, they can withstand heavy loads, such as 80-tonne vehicles parking on top of them. These crates offer a quick, easy, and inexpensive setup with minimal maintenance required.

When Rainwater Soakaway Crates?

Soakaway crates are ideal for areas covered by impermeable materials like tarmac, paving blocks, and concrete, such as roads, car parks, and roofed areas. Due to their effectiveness, they are often a legal requirement for construction projects.

For maximum efficiency, install crates in loamy or sandy soil, as clay soil does not allow for proper drainage. Before installation, conduct a ‘percolation test’ to ensure soil suitability and to identify any potential issues. This test involves digging three test pits to the depth of the proposed soakaway and is typically completed within two days.

The ideal installation location is in the ground at a lower level than the building, at least 5 meters away from the structure to prevent any structural damage. Proper placement ensures efficient water management and long-term protection for your property.
